Position Description


The School of Engineering (SoE) and the Haley Barbour Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME) at The University of Mississippi is accepting applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track teaching position within the SoE and CME. Primary duties of the position will be teaching core undergraduate engineering courses in the SoE and lean manufacturing courses in the CME program.


Job responsibilities:
This is a professional position in which the faculty member teaches undergraduate coursework related to core engineering and lean manufacturing subject matter. Additional duties may include advising students and student organizations as well as participating in recruiting and orientation events. Competitive candidates will have demonstrable teaching ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an energetic commitment to undergraduate education. The opportunity for advancement to the rank of Associate Professor of Practice or Professor of Practice is available.
The candidate will also contribute to the SoE and CME in matters of curricula and instruction, serve on related committees, have the opportunity to work with student competition teams, help advise and mentor undergraduates, work with and develop new industry partners to help create internship and co-op opportunities for students, and help coordinate efforts between the SoE and CME.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates are sought having a Master’s degree or higher with at least one degree in an engineering discipline or a closely related field and a minimum of 5 years of non-academic experience, preferably in a process engineering role. Faculty rank is open and will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
