Overview:

Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer position supports the Project in the delivery of electrical infrastructure. Ensures that electrical designs meet specifications. Monitor the Electrical design and construction to ensure that the company standards for safety and operability are met. Assures compliance with relevant standards. Leads the review of contractors designs, plans and procedures. Ensures successful coordination with relevant stakeholders ensuring project elements are planned to meet project milestones and detailed for construction. Provides oversight to external engineering contractors and vendors to ensure delivery is aligned with business objectives. Continue to identify opportunities to improve efficiency in delivery and reduce cost. Position will then transition into the operating asset as the electrical technical authority.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promote and lead in the implementation of Santos Ltd policies and procedures, including Safety, health, environment, process, people and planning.
  • Being able to work and lead in an integrate fashion I skey to project success.
  • Skilfully work with peers to ensure coordination of the technical aspects of the project are integrated in a timely manner to support execution.
The Electrical Engineer collaborates closely with the Engineering and Operations Teams to ensure project and asset success. The main duties of the role include:
  • Provide ‘in-house’ engineering design, construction support, and start-up assistance for the project.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for contract electrical engineers.
  • Lead the review of contractors’ designs, plans, and procedures.
  • Reviews proposed changes to electrical equipment.
  • Participates in the development of operation, maintenance, and start-up philosophies.
  • Participates in the project risk management process and process hazard evaluation process.
  • Custodian of the project power management philosophy.
  • Interface with EPC/EPF to ensure timely review of engineering documents.
  • Participates in the development of operation, maintenance, and start-up philosophies.
  • Confirms compliance of electrical systems to specifications.
  • Ensure all designs are safe to install and operate.

  • Ensures all electrical equipment, wiring, and devices are tested, listed, and labelled, and installed, used and maintained in accordance with the NEC and all instructions included as part of a product certification.
This role will also support in:
  • Assisting with contractor performance management.
  • Provide guidance to contractors (e.g., regarding trade-offs on design and cost, Owner preferences, etc.)
  • Interface management with facility engineering contractors and system design contractors.
  • Assisting with response to the technical quires (TQ’s/RFI’s).
  • Provide inputs for Integrity Management Plan and Reliability Management Plan.
  • Experience with 13.8 KV GIS switchgear.
  • Strong knowledge of NRTL certification under US standards.
  • Experience with smart Power Management system.
KEY STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Engineering and Operations Team: Inform and collaborate on all matters relating to the electrical engineering design specifications, maintainability, and operability.
  • Project Team: Inform and collaborate on all matters relating to electrical contracts to ensure maximum value and efficiency for the business and the project.
  • Business Unit: Collaborate in and influence engineering activities across the business unit.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate field.
  • 7 years of major project experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Led electrical project scope in the detailed design, construction, commissioning, handover, and closeout phases.
  • Has clearly demonstrated strong technical competence.
  • Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with 13.8 KV GIS switchgear.
  • Strong knowledge of NRTL certification under US standards.
  • Experience with smart Power Management system
