Landscape Technician

The Landscape Technician is responsible for performing landscaping and grounds maintenance on the Aquarium Plaza as well as assisting other CMS staff with the operation and maintenance of the related water features and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and put into place a plan for improvement of the outdoor spaces that surround the Aquarium
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of garden and landscaping tools and equipment
  • Maintains the flower, bush and tree beds throughout the plaza and the sidewalks
  • Mowing grass, seeding, fertilizing, leaf and debris removal
  • Trimming, pruning, planting and removal of dead plant materials and tree limbs.
  • Performs work in a manner that fosters the Aquarium's mission and reflects its core values and service standards
  • Stay current on all required safety training
  • Maintains parts and material inventories for Plaza landscaping
  • Interacts with vendors and subcontractors
  • Maintains tools and equipment for grounds maintenance
  • Assists with the maintenance and operation of the Plaza water features
  • Others duties as assigned


Key Requirements

  • A good working knowledge of best horticulture practices
  • Experienced with setting up and maintaining irrigation systems
  • Formal training beyond High School in a related field
  • Horticulture degree or Landscaping certification
  • 3 years of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance or horticulture
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Previous facility maintenance experience
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record


Full time, hourly; must be able to work weekends and shift work as needed
