As a quality engineer lead, you will be responsible for driving quality engineering for software products, building quality frameworks, and developing test automation and tools. We are looking for a creative and motivated, hands-on experienced software quality engineer to lead quality engineering and testing for a portfolio of corporate systems products, including business functional use-case testing and non-functional quality, negative testing, and performance. The Quality Engineering team is part of the Engineering Operations team for Corporate Systems. This team is directly responsible for managing the quality of complex custom enterprise applications, partnering with various engineering development teams.

Key Qualifications

  • Passion for driving quality into software products.
  • 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering.
  • 1+ years of prior experience working as a software developer.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading and testing Workday HCM Systems, or Payroll Systems
  • Proven track record of driving quality focused on automation, building tools, and QA testing.
  • Experience building test automation frameworks and business use-case testing.
  • Very hands-on in developing quality frameworks and test automation.
  • Experience in Java programming and scripting languages (Perl, PHP, Python, etc.). Linux platforms and relational databases.
  • Solid experience managing offshore teams.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and looking beyond what’s obvious
  • Proven bug detection and regression skills.
  • Must have implemented and applied Continuous Integration (CI) successfully.
  • Experience with Git, Java, Docker, Kafka, MongoDB, and Oracle is highly desirable.
  • Experience qualifying SAAS products is highly desirable
  • Prior experience guiding a team of quality engineers or contractor/vendor resources is desirable.
  • Experience testing on macOS and iOS (mobile apps). Cloud-based technologies are a plus.
  • Must have a working knowledge of SQA methodologies and practices.
  • Experience reporting and tracking bugs & third-party issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Partner with development and other teams in planning and delivering quality software.

Description

In this role, you will develop and execute testing approaches and plans for assigned projects and functional test areas, expand our current test cases, perform engineering quality testing, and execute the required tests. As the quality owner for functional and application areas, you will need to define qualification strategies as well as conduct functionality, compatibility, integration, and reliability testing for applications that are part of complex client/server ecosystems across mobile, desktop, and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated, hands-on, dynamic, and detail-oriented, with a solid technical background and demonstrable hands-on experience in the related field. Applicants must be able to own and lead outcomes, lead a group of resources, and collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to coordinate testing efforts.

Education & Experience

BS in Engineering with 8 plus years of industry experience, Or Masters in Engineering with 4 plus years of experience.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,000 and $269,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
