Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a team member to join the research team of the Division of Emergency Medicine who will be responsible for formulating through research, develop and modify complex information systems with limited supervision.

Job Duties


  • Designs, codes, test and maintain programs and is able to address questions on deliverables.
  • Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency.
  • Interprets complex data, analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports in support of strategic goals.
  • Oversees and coordinates the generation and distribution of actionable data reports including specifying, coding, testing and deploying reports.
  • Advises on hardware and software decisions.
  • Completes projects that require data collection, analysis and presentation.
  • Constructs and provides deliverables for special projects as assigned.
  • Performs extensive data cleaning, preparation and linkages of multiple data sets for analysis.
  • Connect with Pediatric Emergency Medicine Research leadership to create research collection systems (Redcap) and perform quantitative analyses.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership and faculty to help create and manage databases for research and quality reporting purposes.
  • May provide technical guidance, coaching and/or mentoring to junior staff and train users at various levels of data literacy for special projects.
  • Identifies areas to increase efficiency and automation of both data collection and analysis processes, specifically as it applies to multi-center studies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in healthcare/research related field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of SAS, SPSS
  • Working knowledge of healthcare industry practices
  • Hospital data interpretation
  • Experience as healthcare data analyst and/or quantitative specialist
