Position Summary

CRISPR Therapeutics is seeking a Senior/ Principal Research Associate to join the team and support the development of novel formulations that would reach far beyond the liver in support of the in vivo and immuno-oncology programs. A successful candidates should have a good understanding of nanoparticle formulations and downstream purification combined with some basic experience in the space of synthesis and characterization of small molecules/materials. The position requires enthusiasm, passion, attention to detail and a desire to join a growing team to build formulation at LNP at CRISPR Therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the synthesis, characterization and formulation of novel lipid chemistries and their incorporation in LNP systems.
  • Analyze LNP critical quality attributes such as size, encapsulation efficiency, zeta potential, etc.
  • Design and execute experiments to optimize LNP compositions.
  • Formulate different nucleic acid payloads to support company’s in vivo and immuno-oncology programs.
  • Maintain thorough and detailed electronic lab notebooks and documentation records.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental data.
  • Communicate results to team members through written technical reports or oral presentations.
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering and receiving of lab supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline
  • Industry Experience
    • Senior Research Associate – 4-7 years or 2-5 years with advanced degree
    • Principal Research Associate – 6-10 years or 4-8 years with advanced degree
  • Knowledge of process scale up/scale down
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Track record of intellectually challenging oneself to enhance scientific capabilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a results-oriented research team, highly organized with significant attention to details.
  • Proficiency in lab scale manufacturing of LNPs including NanoAssemblr or inline mixing.
  • Proficiency in formulation analytics (DLS, zeta potential, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometry)
  • Experience with handling of RNA as well as familiarity with RNA-related analytics (e.g., RiboGreen assay, gel electrophoresis, etc.).
  • Knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry and biology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with analytical techniques such HPLC, Maldi-TOF MS, LC-MS, NMR
  • Experience with bioprocess engineering principles, process modeling and Design of Experiment (DoE) statistical tools.
  • Nice to have: Prior experience with extra-hepatic delivery of LNPs or other delivery systems.
