Atlas Material Testing is hiring a Site Engineer to support the Atlas Weathering Services Group. This role is needed to support the Special Projects Department by performing specialized testing as per client specifications, maintaining and calibrating equipment, acquiring specialized data and lead for Solar business.


Essential Duties:


  • Verifies, adjusts, and calibrates equipment according to Atlas Material Testing Technology specifications and other OEM specifications consistent with quality standards and guidelines.
  • Assists in the pre-costing process of specialized testing; determines if specific stock of material to support test is available ordering any necessary materials necessary.
  • Prepares Data logger (mini-processors that collect and store data) for test by setting up the program, based upon the instructions in the Datalogger, and as per the client requirements. Tests and debugs. Observes operations and checks periodically for proper functioning of data gathering.
  • Downloads data into a storage module which may then be transferred to computer system. Processes data from the Datalogger format into a useable format; establishes as a spreadsheet application that is user friendly, accurate and meets client needs.
  • Supports the research and reporting of weather by the collection of data and maintenance of all instruments involved in weather data collections.
  • Maintains systems such as automotive interior exposure cabinets and solar concentrator devices with diagnostic tools, debugs systems with problems, locates problem and repairs. Maintains systems under quality guidelines to ensure systems operate within specified parameters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or vocational technical school electrical and mechanical training; or six months two years related technology support experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical aptitude along with a thorough knowledge of computers including MS office products and current software applications. Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, such as ability to establish macros, knowledge of DOS and Windows; understanding of computer hardware.
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Understanding PLC programming language is a plus.
