Supervisor, Construction - New Business

Virginia Natural Gas is seeking a Supervisor for Construction Operations. You will be overseeing construction of distribution gas utility infrastructure related to customer growth, relocation, and renewal projects. You will also supervise Project Coordinators and Inspectors responsible for construction oversight including safety, quality, and project management within a functional or regional area.

As our Supervisor of Construction Operations, a typical day might include

• Providing vision and direction for Construction Project Coordinators and Construction Inspectors within a functional or regional area of responsibility.
• Analyzing costs and benefits for alternative construction policies and opportunities to maximize cost efficiencies.
• Managing staff selection, development, and retention across a geographic area.
• Being responsible for enhancing the performance of the construction staff through training, motivation, and performance coaching.
• Driving quality, safety, and operating objectives expectations to deliver results
• Lead dialogue for elevated visibility issue customers, municipalities and other governmental agencies throughout the project as required (such as state DOTs, Counties, etc.)
• Reviews and approves statements of work, work orders, change orders, and invoices in accordance with authorization approval policies

• You have a BA/BS degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent education and work experience.
• You have a passion for providing solutions.
• You can communicate with all levels of an organization – internally & externally
• You enjoy working outdoors on complex projects with a diverse team of company & contractor personnel
• You have experience driving change to deliver results
• You have an intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

What you’ll bring:

• 4 years of industrial construction experience with related degree or 6 years of industrial construction experience with no degree; company construction or gas utility experience preferred
• The ability to work on-call as needed and occasionally travel overnight.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Project management experience in Construction
