These positions provide armed security services to protect property and persons from sabotage, fire, espionage, theft, vandalism, and other hazards; control entry and exit of all personnel, vehicles and other equipment at entry points to the National Guard Facility or Base; assist and direct visitors; enforce parking regulations; ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, rules and laws; prepare and maintain records and documents; monitor base alarm systems; and attend training and safety classes.
New hires currently start at $24.65 per hour once they pass the qualification to carry firearms. This starting wage consists of a base pay of $19.65 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty, and an additional *temporary* bonus add-on of $3 for hours in work status. (The employer will provide the required firearm training.)
These positions also have Protective Occupation Status within the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is an accelerated retirement benefit.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Comp Plan.
