Job Description

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) acts as a representative of treatment staff and observes all client’s activity, maintains a visible presence on the clients at the treatment center, community housing, and at outside activities. The BHT will also circulate throughout the treatment center and community housing facility, and alert to fire and safety hazards. The BHT is responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time each day for scheduled actives.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the observation, reporting and management of clients at the treatment center and community housing
• Assisting the interdisciplinary team in all levels of care
• Completing technical log reporting for assigned shift
• Observes and conducts urine drug samples and alcohol swab tests
• Observes self-administration of medication and signs medication administration record to document medication compliance
• Transports clients to facility and to residences on a daily basis
• Transports clients to scheduled 12 step meetings daily
• Transports clients to ancillary service provider appointments as necessary.
• Transports clients to all coordinated offsite activities including planned events, work/volunteer opportunities
• Supervises client all activities
• Complete incident reports as necessary
• Participate in staff meetings as needed
• Light cleaning at the facility as well as the client residences as assigned
• Maintains and adheres to all policy and procedures respecting confidentiality of client’s rights, anonymity, communication either written or verbal regarding client’s identity and situation
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and ethical behavior at all times with clients, families and other professionals
• Communicate rights and expectations for behavior to clients in a consistent and respectful manner
• Performs other duties as directed by BHT Supervisor and/or other executive management

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• At least 21 years old
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Current and valid North Carolina Driver License with minimum 4 years of driving experience
• Availability to work a rotating schedule of day and evening shifts

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Minimum 1 year experience in treatment industry preferred
• CADC (CSAC), CADC-I (CSAC-I), or Peer Support Specialist certification
• Personal or professional experience with 12 step recovery program
• Ability to multi task and work as a team member
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills'
