Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Analyze medical record documentation for appropriateness of services and service levels billed. Identify areas for revenue cycle improvement and coding integrity. Recommend better documentation/pre-billing practices.
  • Review and code (ICD-10, CPT-4, Modifiers) multi-specialty physician documentation prior to claim submission for Mount Sinai Doctors Astoria Multispecialty Practice, FHA Clinic Outpatient, Medicine Inpatient/Outpatient, Outpatient Surgical Procedures, and other areas as needed.
  • Ensure timely submission of all Multi-specialty charges to the CBO and Change Healthcare. Contact Departments and inform Supervisor of delinquent areas or providers affecting charge capture targets.
  • Review, monitor and track charge and edit work queues in Epic and provide support as needed. Analyze billing error and denial data to identify root causes.
  • Prepares individual analysis reports by physician and meets with them to discuss findings, educate, and make recommendations for improved practices.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or equivalent 7 or more years experience.
  • Experience: Knowledge of physician billing and claims processing highly preferred. Knowledge of Medicare regulations governing billing and coding compliance. Working knowledge of Epic Resolute.
  • Certifications: CPC Certification from the AAPC or AHIMA in good standing or actively pursuing certification.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50000.38 - $67383.32 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
