Job Summary:

The Dietary Aide assists in the kitchen area prior, during, and after meals are served to participants. Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas, and keeping equipment, utensils and food plates clean and orderly.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains dining area in a clean, neat, orderly manner.
  • Fills and stocks condiments in the dining room.
  • Provides assistance on the line such as tray set up, etc.
  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes.
  • Effectively uses garnishes on all salads, desserts, and serving line.
  • Maintains proper temperatures for both hot and cold foods.
  • Serves participants and guests in the cafeteria line; greets patrons cheerfully and respectfully.
  • Observes proper portion control techniques.
  • Performs cleaning tasks as required and assigned. Assists with the sanitation of all eating, cooking, and serving utensils
  • Assists in preparation of meals per approved menu or approved substitutions by Dietitian/Director.
  • Washes all dishes to keep kitchen clean.
  • Adheres to cleaning checklist/schedule of cleaning.
  • Assist in unloading carts and trays after serving period, as designated
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of all patient snacks and nourishments
  • Aid in maintaining quality control of general sanitation throughout the dietary service (i.e., food carts, counters, and floors).
  • Records dish machine temperature.
  • Assist with meal programs as assigned by Dietary Coordinator
  • Remove garbage from kitchen area and clean trash containers
  • Any and all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
