Job Summary:

This position will be a key member of the Operations Team at IntelliPower (~$35M) headquartered in Orange, CA. AMETEK lntelliPower is one of the largest and most successful suppliers of high- reliability, rugged UPSs. IntelliPower has been designing and manufacturing cost-effective Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and power conversion solutions to protect mission-critical applications since 1988.


The Director of Operations is a key role in the senior leadership team reporting to our VP of Operations. This position will lead the supply chain/panning and manufacturing group in the successful execution of our day-to-day activities and prepare the organization for additional growth. This role is instrumental in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, developing strategic supplier relationships, effectively managing all suppliers, and utilizing the ERP processes to ensure key business metrics are met.


This role will oversee the manufacturing/production areas of this facility and provide needed support to outside manufacturing services for some of our PCBAs and other high-level subassemblies. Upcoming projects that this position will be involved as a key contributor and process owner are additional outsourcing of PCBAS, transition of additional production to low-cost regions, etc. as we continue to expand our IntelliPower/San Diego capability to support new products and future M&A opportunities. Serving both internal and external customers while guiding the business toward efficiency and manufacturing excellence will be a requirement of this multitasking position.


In addition, this position has the potential for upward mobility at the Divisional level to implement and refine lean principles, lead Kaizen events, KPI reporting, working capital improvements initiatives as well as rooftop consolidation activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop resources to effectively deliver revenue and product quality goals every monthly with effective daily work practices and driving continuous improvement activities throughout the organization
  • Effective in managing in an ERP-driven manufacturing environment for a mix of build to stock, assemble to order and build to order products
  • Experience with managing KPIs and driving improvements using continuous improvement toolsets to drive root cause / corrective action activities in a team environment
  • Experience with ASC606(cost to cost) revenue recognition standard
  • Support outsourcing of volume PCBA’s to low-cost regions to leverage internal capabilities for high mix / low volume for a growing global customer base
  • Analysis of current and future labor and absorption for NPD products intended for manufacturing at our main manufacturing facility
  • Support FG outsourcing programs in AMETEK’s low-cost region to expand manufacturing footprint in support of sales growth strategy
  • Manage the balance between product phase-out to minimize E&O inventory
  • Manage factory resources and capabilities to meet dynamic demand of run rate products and larger customer program needs
  • Standardize processes, systems, policies, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvements and develop capital equipment strategies
  • Developing effective relationships with all functions within the organization
  • Developing an effective team through the selection, training, development, and motivation of all personnel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A background in a high-mix PCBA assembly environment
  • Experience leading a large team in a ~$100M organization
  • Experience with a world-class manufacturing company that has a long-term record of deploying lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with strategic planning and strategic execution skills.
  • Balance strategic long-term initiatives with the achievement of tactical short-term goals
  • Experience with the development and implementation of company culture improvement initiatives
  • 10 years of experience with electronics in manufacturing with progression to full product line responsibility
