Erosion Control Heavy Equipment Delivery Driver / Laborer

DEPARTMENT: Erosion Control
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Equipment and Erosion Control Managers
LOCATION: Diversified Landscape Co.

Summary: Under the supervision of the Equipment/Erosion Control Managers, operate company trucks and trailers in a safe, responsible, and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

• Execute and implement all new and pre-existing company safety protocols and procedures as required by OSHA, DOT, local, state, and federal laws while working on public roadways
• Coordinate and complete the punctual delivery and pickup of equipment
• Accept the full responsibility of securing, chaining, packaging, operating, and cleaning all cargo before, during, and after transport
• Accurately maintain daily vehicle inspection reports, driver logs, and other reports specified by CHP
• Perform 90 day inspections and various repairs on trucks and trailers
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of all trucks and trailers
• Safeguard assets from theft, misuse, and vandalism
• Communicate efficiently with field foreman, project managers, and mechanics
• Always use proper lifting and carrying techniques.
• Master the complete operation of hydroseeders and mulch blowers in order to perform and train as directed by the erosion control manager
• Comply at all times with the company’s personal protective equipment and wardrobe policy
• Perform other driver duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Maintain a valid class A license, tanker endorsement, and air brake certification with the California Department of Motor Vehicles
• Safely and efficiently operate all company vehicles and equipment on roadways and jobsites
• Exhibit knowledge of vehicle and equipment preventable maintenance requirements

Utilize electronics (tablets, smartphones, navigation, time card software, etc.) and adapt to future programs adopted and implemented by the company

• Use company cell phone with blue tooth as permitted within the law while driving to communicate with foreman and dispatcher
• Must have impeccable attention to detail regarding organization, punctuality, and communication skills
• Understand DOT and CHP requirements
• Physically and mentally be capable of heavy manual labor such as shoveling, climbing and lifting on average or exceeding 75 pounds
• Display professional written and verbal skills
• Work with minimal supervision
• Be a proficient multi-tasker

Education/Experience/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred minimum 4 years of relevant experience hauling 48’ trailer
• Successfully complete pre-employment background check, DMV, and drug screening
• E-Verify
