Event Coordinator

Reports to: Event Manager

This is a full-time, non-exempt position


The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, a living museum with a mission to inspire curiosity and connect people to the natural world, is searching for their next team member – Event Coordinator! This is a key role in fulfilling our mission of inspiring curiosity and connecting people with the natural world through the living museum and an essential part of the Marketing and Events Department at the Botanical Gardens. The Event Coordinator will assist in the execution and orchestration of both internal and private events held at the Botanical Gardens.


Events

  • Serve as an event coordinator at internal events, photo shoots and at designated private events.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of select private events. This includes event coordination, set-up and break-down, including being a lead point of contact on the day of an event.
  • Plan and execute internal fundraising events in collaboration with the Marketing and Events Department. This includes event set-up and break-down

Teamwork & Relationship Building

  • Positively serve as a representative of the Botanical Gardens to all clients, visitors, vendors, government officials and any/all external sources.
  • Required to work a flexible schedule. Some evenings, weekends and holidays will be required.
  • Lead by example and work with staff to ensure a welcoming environment and an excellent experience for visitors from arrival to departure.

Education and Experience

Associates Degree or relevant experience in the hospitality or related field and at least two-years of experience in event planning or event management. Non-profit experience preferred.


Skills and Characteristics

  • Seeking a creative problem solver who is enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Individual should have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50lbs. with a full range of body motion.
