TSM is currently seeking an experienced Machine Operator/Mechanic to safely and efficiently operate a rolling mill.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow sequential instructions for the proper and safe operation of the mill. Attention to detail and a commitment to observing all safety precautions are crucial requirements for this role.

• Setting up, operating, and adjusting the rolling mill to meet product specifications.
• Inspecting machinery for proper assembly and adherence to specifications.
• Performing routine maintenance to ensure the rolling mill operates effectively.
• Understanding machine cycles and mill operation to identify and resolve potential jams, while ensuring products meet required specifications.
• Reading orders and schedules to determine setup requirements, work sequences, and product dimensions.
• Examining, inspecting, and measuring raw materials and finished products to verify compliance with specifications.
• Manipulating controls and monitoring dial indicators to adjust and regulate machine speeds.
• Positioning, aligning, and securing arbors, spindles, coils, mandrels, dies, and slitting knives.
• Setting distance points between rolls, guides, meters, and stops according to specifications.
• Filling oil cups, adjusting valves, and monitoring gauges to control the flow of metal coolants and lubricants onto workpieces.
• Installing equipment such as guides, guards, gears, cooling systems, and rolls using hand tools.
• Using shears and grinders to trim workpieces.
• Calculating draft space and roll speed for each mill stand to plan rolling sequences and achieve specified dimensions and tempers.
