**POSITION SUMMARY: **Perform various tasks involved in the painting or finishing process for multiple different substrates including but not limited to operating paint equipment to apply paints, stains and lacquers to parts. Painting parts following a production plan, drawings for instruction on appropriate color or finish. This is NOT a residential painter position but a high end painter familiar with Aerospace or Automotive finishes and furniture stains.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to understand requirements for paint /finish work to be completed. Selects product and finish type to be used based on the drawings, a tag located on the parts, or according to verbal instructions and other forms of instructions. Attention to detail is a must.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES: **

**Paint preparation duties **

  • Ability to understand drawings and identify level of prep/ finish required
  • Correctly prep, sand, clean and mask as needed
  • Work with painter to help prioritize work flow and needs for departments
  • Maintain route cards and inventory of all parts going through the finish shop

**Painter/ Finisher duties **

  • Must be fully trained in prep duties
  • Product selection (using correct product per substrate and requirements)
  • Color matching and mixing paint and colors
  • Setting up all needed equipment: Pressure pots, spray guns
  • Use correct spraying techniques to ensure proper coverage on all parts
  • Understanding full set up of drying oven and setting it appropriately per finish
  • QC all finish work through each stage of process and spotting any defects, including fish eyes or runs
  • Understand rework process and correct errors as needed

**Housekeeping duties: **

  • Maintain equipment and use gun cleaning procedures
  • Keep work area, mixing room and paint booths to standard

You should be proficient in:

  • Blueprint Reading
  • Deburring Experience

Machines & technologies you'll use:

  • Paint Sprayer

Salary info:

$22 - $30 / hr
