Position Overview

Local, family-owned marine logistics company seeking Accounting/Payroll Clerk to support the success of the Company by ensuring employees are accurately paid for work performed using logs and timesheets. Performs the financial calculations to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate information through functions related to general accounting standards and practices. Ideal candidates will have a sharp attention to detail and expertise using MS Excel.

  • $20-$25/hour
  • Full-Time, Long Term

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Ability to pass Criminal Background Check & Federal Drug Screening
  • Must pass Excel Skills Testing to be considered
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
  • 4 Years accounting and/or payroll experience
  • Business or Accounting Degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to operate specific departmental equipment including specific accounting software, Microsoft Office, and business specific tools
  • High proficiency in MS Excel
  • Strong analytical and auditing skills
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of office administration procedures, general accounting principles, and, intermediate mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with customers, company representatives, and co-workers

General Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile all vessel generated logs and documentation
  • Assist payroll manager in payroll processes
  • Investigate and resolve employee payroll queries
  • Assist with month-end closing
  • Post transactions to accounting software
  • Organize, and support payroll processes, reports, and various documents as relate to the accounting department
  • Willingness to learn business accounting practices outside of payroll
  • Occasional contact with customers and ability to work with customer invoices
  • Double-check and audit accounting work of others
  • Act as back-up to other systems within accounting department
  • Additional task as assigned by the Payroll Accountant or Operations Manager
