Kamehameha Schools’ Commercial Real Estate Group (“CRE”) is searching for a High School Intern. The summer internship will be full-time (40 hours/week) for a period of 6 weeks with the opportunity to extend into the Fall based on availability.
Job Summary
The Student Internship is a six (6) week summer program (with the option to extend into the Fall) that will provide Kamehameha Schools (KS) students with the opportunity to learn, develop, and apply relevant department skills in a real-world context. Selected students will be trained by Commercial Real Estate Group (CRE) personnel and provided with guidance and mentoring as they complete division-related projects. Interns will learn and provide support for CRE initiatives including planning and design, leasing, research, and reporting.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs assignments under the direct supervision of a Planning & Development Project Manager, or other Commercial Real Estate professionals, offering real-world experience on exciting projects.
  • Assists in preparation of presentations, exhibits, research and data collection related to: Planning and Design, Land use, Real Estate Markets, and Industry Trends.
  • Assists in intra- and inter-division collaboration and coordination, preparing materials and follow-up action planning.
  • Interacts with and supports various departments within CRE (Asset Management, Leasing, Transactions, Planning & Development, and Portfolio Finance).
  • Assists with coordinating consultants and vendor activity.
  • Provides some administrative support including, photocopying, scanning, filing, coordinating meetings.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in High School.
  • Proficient in the use of the PC/Mac and standard office software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed CAD 1 and 2.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, basic drafting and computer modeling skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, graphic and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with varied audiences.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Understands and respects confidentiality requirements.
  • Leadership abilities – driven and self-motivated with an ability to form, lead and facilitate group discussions.
  • Community Service – able to effectively interact with diverse members of the community.
  • Familiarity with historical and cultural resources, properties and landscapes.
  • Familiarity with environmental and cultural stewardship efforts in Hawai‘i.
  • Familiarity with Hawaiian geography, cultural practices and the Hawaiian language.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
