Job Description

The Tour Guide position has a pay scale where base pay is $15-20 per hour, however when tips are included you could expect to make anywhere between $40-$75 per hour. This is not including any of the incentive and commission programs that we have set up for Tour Guides.

In a nutshell, a tour guide will prepare for tours, guide tours, maintains tour equipment, and attend weekly zoom meetings with full staff.

The ideal candidate must be able to provide exceptional customer service and presentation skills, while also ensuring the safety and happiness of our guests.

Technical Skills & Duties

• Arrives prior to guest arrival to check-in guests, collect payment, sign waiver forms, and direct guests to tour site area.
• Sets up all tour supplies and equipment in a timely manner prior to guest check-in.
• Teaches skills, such as proper paddling methods, and demonstrates and advises on the use of tour equipment.
• Leads Paddle Board and Kayak Tours, giving clear directions to guests regarding water safety practices, tour instructions, and measures to ensure minimal environmental intrusion.
• Follows established tour presentations exactly as instructed (some memorization required), highlighting interesting details and information regarding wildlife varieties & habitats, area facts & historical information, and points of interest to tour groups, creating a memorable tour experience.
• Inspects all equipment for damage and necessary maintenance and reports any needed action to management daily.
• Learns and follows all Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) rules and regulations.
• Must have SUV, Truck, or Van.
• Maintains a clean and organized company trailer and basic upkeep.
• Conducts retail sales transactions, including cross-selling additional products and services.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

General Skills

• Must be able to lift and transport supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work for extended periods of time in outdoor weather conditions.
• Able to understand and follow both oral and written instruction.
• Operate general office equipment including telephones, computers and cash registers.
• Must be comfortable speaking and presenting to small and large groups.

• Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with customers and guests.
• Must have excellent time management skills, including the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
