Overview

UI/UX Designer responsibilities include gathering user requirements, designing graphical elements and building styled-components with HTML5/JS/SCSS. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools. A strong understanding of device-specific style guides (such as Google’s material design and Apple’s human interface guidelines) is highly recommended.

We are looking for a UI/UX Designer/Developer capable of building ideas from File->New all the way to fully responsive, user-friendly, production-grade mobile and web UIs.

Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing responsive UIs that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.

Responsibilities

• Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and software engineers
• Convey design ideas and project plans using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
• Design graphic user interface elements, such as layout menus, tabs, buttons, input boxes and other widgets/components
• Create conceptual diagrams and visual mockups that clearly illustrate how responsive websites and mobile apps function and appear
• Create original graphic designs (e.g., images, sketches and tables)
• Prepare and present conceptual designs to internal teams and key stakeholders
• Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g., responsiveness)
• Enhance the user experience through layout adjustments based on user feedback
• Help develop, maintain and adhere to style guides and web standards (e.g., fonts, colors and images)
• Create intuitive interfaces that optimize user interaction and experience
• Conduct thorough testing and rapid integration of new features, to ensure seamless navigation and functionality, incorporating feedback from clients, users, and the design team.
• Work closely with the marketing team to maximize SEO, marketing landing pages and other technical marketing needs
• Design and implement web/mobile UIs and applications from concept through to deployment
• Test and debug UI issues using various devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) and debugging tools (Safari debugger, Chrome remote debugger, Firefox debugger, Edge, etc.)

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of computer systems and technology-related work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field
• Proven work experience as a Front-end Developer or similar role
• Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator, XD, and Photoshop
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks effectively
• Portfolio of design projects
• Search engine optimization (SEO) proficiency
• Familiarity with Section 508 & WCAG accessibility standards
• Strong knowledge of general web standards and best practices, as well as a drive to improve internal standards and practices
• Strong knowledge of web application architecture
• Knowledge of wireframe tools
• Experience working with cross-browser compatibility issues
• Experience developing in a modern JavaScript stacks
• Use of revision control (git, svn, etc.) using branches, pull requests, etc.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JS
• Experience with CSS preprocessors such as SCSS, SAAS, or LESS
• Experience with Bootstrap 4, flexbox and other UI libraries
• Take your designs and write the HTML/SCSS required for a fully responsive experience
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with various stakeholders; team spirit
• Generate ideas and accomplish independently with little direction; autonomous
• Must be an organized, detail-oriented and accurate self-starter with strong professional, analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience with front-end frameworks such as Blaze, React, Vue.js and Angular
• Experience with automated testing and testing frameworks
• Familiarity with build systems and code bundlers such as Babel, Gulp and webpack
• Familiarity with Linux and MySQL/MongoDB
• Familiarity with container-based technologies such as Vagrant, Docker or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with building and maintaining unit, workflow, and regression tests for UI
