Job Description:

Parsons is now hiring an experienced Legislative and Policy Analyst with the desire to work on a team developing innovative solutions to support emerging technology projects.

The ideal candidate will act as a trusted consultant and collaborate with the government client while overseeing multiple concurrent legislative related tasks.

This role will primarily be onsite at the customer’s Crystal City, VA location.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Legislative and Policy Analyst position include the following:

  • Monitor the status of defense legislation, pertinent hearings, markups, and floor actions.
  • Support preparation of client staff for congressional hearings and help draft responses to congressional inquiries.
  • Develop advanced understanding of policy and legislative matters for the purpose of advising client leaders and offices on media engagement strategies and responses to inquiries from reporters.
  • Coordinate with appropriate government officials to obtain review and approval of time-sensitive deliverables.
  • Translate congressional and regulatory actions into actionable plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the legislative affairs, analysis field, department-level planning, or execution.
  • Experience with researching issues, developing expertise, and drafting concise messaging, talking points, and speeches senior leaders use to accurately convey priorities and manage risks.
  • Experience with researching, reviewing, and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and executive-branch policy documents, including Executive Orders, Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register, or DoD issuances.
  • Experience with preparing leadership for testifying to and meeting with government members and pertinent staff members.
  • Experience with researching and writing background papers, talking points, and oral and written statements, including legislative briefings to leadership.
  • Experience with DoD personnel policy organizations and offices.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Political Science.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Department of Defense and its senior leadership offices
  • Experience working on Capitol Hill as a congressional staffer, including in a communication or press role
  • Pentagon staff/action officer experience within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff or service staff.
  • Master’s degree, preferably in Political Science

Salary Range:

$113,100.00 - $203,600.00
