Founded in 2013 by Troy and Tracy Duhon, Giving Hope is a New Orleans based nonprofit dedicated to changing lives through love. Giving Hope exists to give glory to God and to promote human dignity in the community of New Orleans and around the world. Through the tireless efforts of staff, volunteers, and corporate partners, Giving Hope feeds, clothes, houses, and provides hope to those in need.

While serving in a variety of capacities, Giving Hope is known for its food pantry program, which distributes over seven million pounds of food to over 5,000 people monthly and serves over 1,100 hot meals per day to senior citizens, youth, and the homeless. Through Hope House and Hope for Children Fund, Giving Hope is committed to building orphanages and supporting youth across several areas of need. Additionally, Giving Hope advocates for families in the Desire-Florida Community by providing workforce training, family and youth programming, community events, sports and recreation, and Christian activities.

POSITION PROFILE

As the Social Media Manager, you will serve as the marketing brand ambassador—creating a holistic, strategic and consistent social media strategy for Giving Hope’s marketing and communication efforts across all social media accounts, websites, video production, etc. You will work directly with the Executive Director, the Founders and outside vendors as the organization continues to grow and expand— amplifying the need for consistent social media across all ministry initiative social media platforms. You will create and manage the digital strategy, calendar and content creation.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain a consistent social media presence for Giving Hope
  • Be a brand champion, protecting the voice and brand of the organization in all areas of social media while maintaining standards for the creation and delivery of all content
  • Strategically develop, implement, and track social media activity for all Giving Hope initiatives
  • Interact with stakeholders via the Giving Hope’s social media accounts, and work with external agencies and vendors to execute social media initiatives
  • Identify strategic weaknesses and make recommendations for improvements
  • Research social media trends and inform the leadership of relevant changes (to the nonprofit’s marketing activities);
  • Strategically interact with target audiences and the community per individual ministry initiative

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing/Advertising
  • 2-5 years of experience in social media management
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, meticulous, able to set priorities, meet deadlines, able to plan and manage budgets
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube with written, photo and video content
  • Experience with strategically creating content marketing calendars, and social media marketing calendars
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience and understanding in SEO methods
  • Copywriting experience, plus
  • Experience managing outside vendors, plus
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in a small team environment
  • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, Pages, Keynote, etc.
  • Experience working with or around Christian ministry or non-profit, plus
  • Personal passion for the mission and ministry of Giving Hope

BENEFITS
