Discover Durham is Durhams marketing and sales agency, helping draw nearly 12 million leisure, business, and sports visitors to our vibrant, eclectic community prior to the pandemic. Were looking for a part-time Social Media Contractor to assist our team to conceptualize, produce, and capture content to be published to our accounts, ultimately increasing awareness of Durham as an appealing visitor destination.
This job requires strong attention to detail, the ability to create engaging content, and experience capturing cell phone photos and videos. This role will be managed by the Social Media Manager. Hours will vary week to week and month to month, but are anticipated to be approximately 15-20 hours per month. Expensed travel and other related costs are required to be pre-approved.
Primary responsibilities and job description:
Capture content to be published on Discover Durhams accounts:
Attend Durham-based events that drive economic development (includes evenings and weekends)
Go to businesses and attractions within Durham County as determined by the Marketing teams editorial calendar
Curate user-generated content and other publicly available assets to contribute to or be repurposed for Discover Durhams social posts
Assist the Social Media Manager while on-site filming takes place to capture consent from people featured in videos
Produce a bank of b-roll and other multimedia elements of top visitor-facing attractions to be used for social media posts across accounts
Depending on the contractors skillsets, graphics to be designed for holidays (example) and other thematic static pieces (example)
Skills and Qualifications:
Must be available to potentially work evenings and weekends to cover events
Must have a personal computer to access Discover Durhams software and subscription platforms outside of the office
Experience managing a branded account, working within Adobe Creative Cloud is required. Experience covering events or other live initiatives for a branded account are strongly preferred.
Exceptional writing and copyediting skills are required
A familiarity or understanding of the destination and what sets it apart is preferred
Candidates are required to submit links to at least three social posts with their application, demonstrating quality of work and creativity
