Job Description

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our San Antonio, TX Team! This role will be responsible for administering the day-to-day construction accounting by performing the duties outlined below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain open communication with Project Teams and Management
• Meet month-end and reporting deadlines
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Prepare journal entries and accruals for the monthly close process

• Perform monthly bank statement and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain various schedules including general liability insurance and surety dividends
• Examine sales tax policies and prepare sales tax reports
• Provide support for financial statement preparation
• Contribute to the development of the operating budgets
• Assist with all internal and external audit requests
• Assist in monitoring the adherence to existing accounting policies
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in a construction accounting or related environment
• Viewpoint, CMiC, or other similar construction accounting software
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of the job must be able to hear and talk. Is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate.
